Museums

In addition to the traditional museums – the Potsdam Museum and Museum of Natural Science – a number of other new museums and monuments comprise the museum landscape in the state capital Potsdam. Along with the Film Museum Potsdam and the House of Brandenburg-Prussian History in the heart of Potsdam, the museums in the historical provinces and the monuments of the state capital have their place.

The Potsdam Museum is located in the Old Town Hall at the Old Market across from the newly constructed Landtag. The historically-protected building with its glass main entrance and modern interior design provides an ideal setting for an attractive municipal museum. The exhibits in the Museum of Natural Science in Potsdam invite you to walk through the flora and fauna of Brandenburg. In every kind of weather you have the chance to meet one or two four-legged friends, feathered singer or live fish in the permanent exhibits “Endangered Faun” or “Animals in the Garden”.

The House of Brandenburg-Prussian History in the former royal carriage stable at the New Market displays the permanent exhibition “The country and its people – Stories from Brandenburg-Prussia” and rotating exhibitions.

The new cultural event center in Potsdam is the museum FLUXUS+ in the Schiffbauergasse. Works from private collections are shown on two floors.
