Theater life in Potsdam is characterized by the Hans Otto Theater (HOT) in the Schiffbauergasse and by an independent theater scene which originated in the ‘T-Werk’ and in the ‘fabrik Potsdam’. Theatre festivals like the Youth Theatre Festival and UNIDRAM as well as guest appearances by international and national theater companies and ensembles are the highlights of theater life. Different institutions offer children and youth opportunities to experience theater. Dance and ballet performances as well as musical theater take place in the HOT, fabric Potsdam, Nikolai Concert Hall and independent facilities.
