Description

• is the contact person for all residents of Potsdam regarding gender-related  issues
• counsels men and women experiencing problems regarding the compatibility of work and family as well as work and caregiving
• designs initiatives and develops ideas to eliminate existing barriers for men and women on the local level
• contributes to projects, decisions, programs and measures which affect equality
• advises city council members and the city's administration officers regarding all measures as they affect issues of equality
• formulates opinions in regard to gender-specific questions in drafts of guidelines presented by the council
• contributes to those projects which are supported and initiated to eliminate structural barriers to women in the hiring and staffing processes of the city
• works on behalf of and in cooperation with women and girls and their representatives on the local level and supports their networking efforts
• represents the interests of people with homosexual, bisexual and transgender lifestyles
• counsels and supports those affected in all cases of sexual harassment, violence, mobbing
• pursues an active public relations program in order to enhance general awareness
