Lakes of the Havel

Get to know the island Potsdam from a completely different side. You can explore Potsdam’s cultural landscape comfortably by boat on the river Havel and its numerous lakes. Explore, for example, Caputh which has a castle built by the Great Elector and the simple house of Albert Einstein. Or explore Petzkow at the lake Schwielowsee whose castle, park and church are considered to be one of the most beautiful rural ensembles of the first half of the 19th century.

In Sacrow you can visit the Estate Castle and the Church of the Redeemer. You can also reach Werder by boat, which is not only worth a visit during the Baumblüte Festival. A person who would rather indulge in active watersports can find ideal opportunities on and in the lakes around Potsdam.

The municipal beach Babelsberg and the forest beach Templin offer possibilities for active recreation other than relaxing in a beach chair. The region has a fully developed network of bicycle paths which take you alongside the Havel and the lakes. Fishing enthusiasts get their money’s worth as well because the Havel is teeming with fish.
